The Project Role

The Elevate Programme is a Young Londoners Fund 3-year project to support 150 young people aged 16-21 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or who are at risk of becoming NEET and getting involved in crime in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark. The project is delivered by Business Launchpad (BLP), Policy Centre for African Peoples (PCAP) and Generation Success offers a holistic support package of business support, advice and opportunities for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and an introduction to healthy lifestyles through innovative fitness, motivational and personal development programmes.



We offer complete and personalised business guidance and support to in need young entrepreneurs from across London, aged 16 to 30 through workshops and 1:1 business coaching. We work in partnership with young people to enable them to start their own business or move into employment or/and education and training. We aim to develop approaches that empower, support and encourage young people to build confidence and follow their aspirations and fulfil their potential. BLP owns Trident Business Centre, soon to be rebranded to Tooting Works which is 46, 000 sq/ft and provides affordable office spaces, as well as co-working spaces. We are a social enterprise with 100% of our profits funding the charitable work of Business Launchpad (BLP). Tooting Community Projects (TCP) is ‘powered by’ TBC, as the vehicle to make sure TBC becomes a Community Asset. We are using the resources of the business centre (car park, kitchens and meeting rooms) to provide the local community with safe, sanitised and secure spaces to distribute food and essential items to vulnerable groups in Tooting, South West London during COVID19. In the long-term TCP will create other exciting initiatives, in direct response to local community need. This will include support for young people aged 16-30 who will be heavily impacted by the current crisis.

Key Responsibilities: 

A Youth Champion is needed to assist the delivery team to reach young people and inspire them to get engaged in the programme that offers holistic support giving them the option to take a range of routes.

  • Be the main driver of the recruitment of young people
  • Raise awareness of Elevate across youth and community groups
  • Deliver and facilitate outreach sessions
  • Actively engage with young people and organisations who work with young people who are NEET, at risk of being NEET or at risk of offending
  • Reach set targets of engagement
  • Update systems that reflect your borough
  • Responsibility for communication and social media channels to reach young people

Level of Skill/Experience: 

This is a flexible position and would be great for someone looking for part-time work. We will be recruiting 2 Youth Champions to cover the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark (one in each borough) and lead on the local outreach work.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of facilitation and group or youth work & youth engagement
  • Ability to carry out administrative tasks and coordinate projects
  • Ability to support other members of staff with the delivery of work
  • Proven ability to build positive partnerships with key professional agencies or other youth work providers and voluntary agencies
  • Local knowledge of Lambeth or Southwark *as applicable

We are looking for an individual to bring their ideas, passion, entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to learn. The Youth Champion will receive ongoing training and support from the Business Launchpad team to help them with their growth and the delivery of the project.
